The Saris MHS reimagined hitch-mounted bike racks and vehicle accessories as a modular system rather than a collection of dedicated, single-purpose products.

At the center of the system is a universal spine that remains installed on the vehicle. Once the base is purchased, users can add or exchange accessories to create a solution tailored to their needs. The system was designed to support premium and entry-level bike trays, a cargo basket, enclosed cargo box, ski rack, and platform table.

This modular approach also introduced a different purchasing model. Instead of buying a complete rack for one specific purpose, customers could purchase individual accessories separately and expand the system over time as their needs changed.

MHS also addressed two common problems with traditional hitch racks: shipping and storage. Conventional racks are often packaged in large, heavy boxes and occupy considerable space when not in use. Dividing MHS into separate components created smaller, easier-to-handle packages and allowed each accessory to be removed and stored independently. The result was a more adaptable product ecosystem that improved the experience of purchasing, transporting, using, and storing hitch-mounted equipment.
